Areas of Emphasis

Bonan focuses on patent  prosecution, counseling and litigation. He has extensive experiences in the procurement of patents, patent re-examination, appeal and invalidation proceedings, and in counseling on validity, patentability and infringement issues in polymer science, organic chemistry, crop science, pharmaceuticals and chemical engineering. His expertise further extends to administrative procedures relating to the pipeline product protection of pharmaceuticals and agro-chemicals. as well as invention management and licensing.

Education and Related Experience
Bonan earned his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Tsinghua University in 1982 and a diploma in English language from Beijing Foreign Economic and Trade University in 1983. He studied US patent law and practice in New York City in 1985. Bonan has practiced intellectual property law in Beijing since 1982 .

Professional Activities
Bonan is the co-author of a seven-volume book "Chinese Patent Course". Over the years, he has been frequently invited to participate in the discussions of and to provide expert opinions on the patent law and other complex patent issues. He speaks extensively in international conferences and seminars. Bonan is an arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and a mediator of WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center. Bonan is a member of Chinese Group of AIPPI and Les.
