Areas of Emphasis

Chengen focuses on patent prosecution and litigations, unfair competition and related matters. He has successful experience in representing clients in patent re-examinations, invalidations, appeal proceedings and infringement lawsuits before the court. Chengen represents both foreign and domestic clients mainly in the fields of material science and engineering, inorganic chemistry, chemical engineering and organic chemistry. He also advises clients on patent licensing, technology transfer and unfair competition issues.

Education and Related Experience
Chengen earned his B.S. degree in chemical engineering in 1984, a diploma in English language from Beijing Normal University in 1985 and a Master degree in law from Peking University. He studied intellectual property litigation in Japan in 1997. Chengen has practiced intellectual property law in Beijing since 1984.

Professional Activities
Chengen is the author and contributor of a number of articles on intellectual property in China. He also speaks widely on intellectual property issues in Japan. He is a member of Chinese Group of AIPPI and LES.
